Slopeng Beach

On the northern coast of Madura is well worth a visit. Its white sand and palm trees add the cool atmosphere of this region. At the east end Sumenep you can also find a similar beach of which the coastal plants are dominated by typical short firs.

Torowan Waterfall

Which is located on the north coast, about 43 km from Sampang. The natural surroundings are unspoiled and have clear sea water.

Sarangan Lake

The most popular and the one which recives much interest is Sarangan Lake. This Lake is also caled ‘Lake Pasir’ at the foot of Mount Lawu approximately 16 kilometres to the west of Magetan city. Sarangan lake has a depth of 28 meters and a 30 hectares area, the weather is cool and is comfortable for family weekenders. Various facilities are available, such as hotels, restautant, motor boats, and horse riding around the lake for adults. In this lake every Pon Friday in the month of Ruwah (Javanese Calendar) they hold a traditional village purification ceremony by releasing offerings into the lake. This ritual ceremony is as a from of their expression of gratitude for all the blessings from god.

Cangar Pool

Is a bath pool with natural hit springs surrounded by besutiful forests suitable for family to relax. From Batu city to this pool, youwill pass throught the stunning panorama of mountains. Dutch tourist enjoy the panoramic view of this kind. Many star rated hotels are spread across in Batu, some of them with concept of a resort hotel. You can see a couple of Dutch ancient hotels, they stands sturdily and are well managed. For souvenirs, you can buy some at craft centres found along the road to Batu.

Plengkung Beach

In the Gulf Coast of Grajagan is well known by the world’s surfers; according to them the waves at Plengkung are the 7th world’s best waves. This site is known by international surfers as “G-Land” G is the designation of Grajagan because of its location in the Gulf of Grajagan, most foreign surfers come through Bali, continue by taking an overland route to Banyuwangi. The 2 km long wafes at Plengkung beach are able to accommodate 50 surfers at the same time. The waves here are suitable for the surfers two have a habit of surfing with the right foot position in front (goofy-foot style). May – October is the best season for this sport.

Sukamade Beach

97 km to the southwest of Banyuwangi is a tourist beach located in the intensive utilization zone. The beach is potential for ecotourism activities, because tourists can directly watch the behavior of the protected turtles landing on the beach after sailing the ocean and landing to find a place to lay eggs. Of the 8 species of turtles in Indonesia, 4 species of sea turtles land on Sukamade beach namely Green Turtle, Hawksbill Turtle, Slengkrah Turtle, and Leatherback Turtle. All species are protected animals. A tour to watch turtles laying eggs are usually done in the evening, because turtles lay their eggs at night. The step-by-step-process takes 3-4 hours with the phases: turtles stop for a moment on the beach (sea water border), walk up to the beach to feel secure, dig a hole for the body and a hole for eggs, lay eggs, close the hole for body and eggs hole, making and artificial nest and ultimately go back to the sea. Turtle nesting months are from November to March. Meru Betiri National Park closely watches this Sukamade coastal region for turtles survival. A turtle breeding is also found in Ngagelan.

Pelang Beach

Is another beach located in Panggul subdistrict. The beach is natural, overlooking directly the Indian Ocean. Therefore, it has relatively big waves. The beach is 56 km to the southwest of Trenggalek. Not far from Pelang beach, you can find a waterfall; some people believe that having a bath under this waterfall will make people remain young. Unspoiled beaches which have potential to be developed into attractive coastal resorts are beaches of Damas, Ngampiran, Blado, and Konang.
