Slopeng Beach

On the northern coast of Madura is well worth a visit. Its white sand and palm trees add the cool atmosphere of this region. At the east end Sumenep you can also find a similar beach of which the coastal plants are dominated by typical short firs.

Sumenep Palace

Lying at the eastern end of Madura Island, Sumenep is one of the main tourist destinations in Madura. The culture of Sumenep is much influenced by Javanese, Arabic, European, and Chinese cultures. This mixture makes Sumenep gives its own colour to Madura. Until now Sumenep’s royal palace from the kings in the past have been intact and well preserved. The palace together with its environment becomes the major attraction in Sumenep. The front building has a Javanesa style: on the contrary, the main building has a Chinese style. Historically in fact, the palace was built by a Chinese architect.

Madura Bull Races

Is a type of racing competition for couples of bulls only found in Madura Island. The Island’s grand final of the race, usually held in Pamekasan, they win for the trophy of the President of the Republic of Indonesia. Of this championship the bulls run across 130 metres long runway, but only 110 metres in subdistrict level, and 120 metres in regency level. The scoring system is divided into two categories: championship of the winners group, and championship of the losers group.

Torowan Waterfall

Which is located on the north coast, about 43 km from Sampang. The natural surroundings are unspoiled and have clear sea water.

Prababaran Trunojoyo Historical Site

Is located in the city center. The site is the birthplace of Trunojoyo and has become a preserved historical area of East Java. Tomb of Ratu Ebu is also a historical site located in Polagan urban village, 2 km from the city center. This is the tomb of the mother of King Sampang R. Praseno who died in 1624.

Lebar Cave

This cave has become Sampang’s tourism icon. It is a historic cave because inside it is a historic site of Prince Trunojoyo. From the cave on the top of the hill you can enjoy a panoramic view offer Sampang city, and when the sun sets the city looks beautiful.

Camplong Beach Recreation

About 9 km from the downtown. Facilities available are resort cottages, a café, a viewing post, a visitors market, and a playground. Each month of Maulud people hold a sea offerings ceremony.

Sarangan Lake

The most popular and the one which recives much interest is Sarangan Lake. This Lake is also caled ‘Lake Pasir’ at the foot of Mount Lawu approximately 16 kilometres to the west of Magetan city. Sarangan lake has a depth of 28 meters and a 30 hectares area, the weather is cool and is comfortable for family weekenders. Various facilities are available, such as hotels, restautant, motor boats, and horse riding around the lake for adults. In this lake every Pon Friday in the month of Ruwah (Javanese Calendar) they hold a traditional village purification ceremony by releasing offerings into the lake. This ritual ceremony is as a from of their expression of gratitude for all the blessings from god.

Widas Reservoir

Located in Saradan subdistrict at an altitude of 110 metres above sea level. The reservoir is never dry, and freshwater fish in the reservoir are much tastier than those in other reservoirs. Facilities available include a conference hall, motor boats, a flying fox, a chidren’s playground, jogging tracks, and some other facilities. In Wungu subdistrict there are a campsite, teak seedbeds, and an arena for out bound activity.

Cangar Pool

Is a bath pool with natural hit springs surrounded by besutiful forests suitable for family to relax. From Batu city to this pool, youwill pass throught the stunning panorama of mountains. Dutch tourist enjoy the panoramic view of this kind. Many star rated hotels are spread across in Batu, some of them with concept of a resort hotel. You can see a couple of Dutch ancient hotels, they stands sturdily and are well managed. For souvenirs, you can buy some at craft centres found along the road to Batu.

Selecta and Songgoriti Recreation Park

Featuring swimming pool and hot springs as well as lodging facilities have been famous since the Dutch era. Until now the sites are still visited by tourists. Jatim Park is a Recreation Park designed with the concept of “Learning, while doing recreation”. It is crowded on holidays. Batu’s natural condition is ideal for a place of family recreation, especially in forest areas.

Batu Night Spectacular

Kusuma Agro Wisata

On the slopes of Mount Panderman with a collection of plants that you can find such as apple, orange, and strawberry. The Kusuma recreation park has been completed with good hotels and facilities for conferences/meetings. Batu city is identical with flowers and apples, along the way you will find sellers of various kinds of beautiful flowers. Sidomulyo village and Punten village of Bumiaji subdistrict are centres for flowers with various collections. Tourist can pick flowers by themselves to buy.

Plengkung Beach

In the Gulf Coast of Grajagan is well known by the world’s surfers; according to them the waves at Plengkung are the 7th world’s best waves. This site is known by international surfers as “G-Land” G is the designation of Grajagan because of its location in the Gulf of Grajagan, most foreign surfers come through Bali, continue by taking an overland route to Banyuwangi. The 2 km long wafes at Plengkung beach are able to accommodate 50 surfers at the same time. The waves here are suitable for the surfers two have a habit of surfing with the right foot position in front (goofy-foot style). May – October is the best season for this sport.

Alas Purwo National Park

Which is located along Blambangan peninsula is a natural protected area having remarkable biodiversity and ecosystem which are very usefulfor research, science, education and tourism. The national park has an area of 43,420 hectares with a lowland tropical rain forest; 40% in the from of a bamboo forest. Various species of animals comprising mammals, aves, pisces, and reptiles. Animals living here are among others buffalo, deer, antelope, wild boar, peacock etc. At Sadengan there is an area of 84 hectares of grazing savannah, provided with a viewing tower to see grazing animals such as buffalo, deer, wild boar etc.

Margo Utomo Plantation

At Kalibaru lies at an altitude of 480 metres asl, and in about one hour drive from Banyuwangi towards the west. The attractions to enjoy include seeing the trees of coffee, clove, cocoa, spices, to watch people tapping the palm, to see the making of coconut sugar and many more including to take a horse cart around the village. Foreign tourists enjoy the attractions so enthusiastically. At Margo Utomo Plantation II, besides enjoying the plantation, visitors can take a rafting tour. There are amny argo attractions which can be enjoyed in Banyuwangi, among others: plantation and waterfall of Trebasala in Glenmore subdistrict, Banyu Lor plantation, Kalibeno, Malang Sari plantation, Kendenglembu plantation, Agro tourism Kaliselogiri.

Irdjen Kaliklatak Plantation

Is located 15 km from Banyuwangi city center at an altitude of 450-850 metres above sea level. Kaliklatak Plantation is one of the first and the oldest agro tourism in Indonesia which is now 38 yaers of age. Kaliklatak has an area of 1,013 hectares with special highland planrs such as coffee, rubber, cocoa, and spices. Supported with 20 rooms of bungalows, the plantation is frequently visited by many tourist especially from the Netherlands. By wearing distinctive “capil” (typical cap), foreign tourists take an open truck travelling around the plantation to see the people tapping rubber, picking coffee, clove and chocolate. They can see latex processing and the processing of coffee up to the sorting process.

Meru Betiri National Park

The coverage area of the national park is to reach Banyuwangi region. A 20,415 hectares area belongs to Banyuwangi and a 37,585 hectares area belongs to Jember. Total area of Meru Betiri National Park is 58,000 hectares consisting of 57,155 hectares of land and 845 hectares of sea. Zoning policy of the park covers the core zone, forest zone, intensive utilization zone, rehabilitation zone, and buffer zone. The vegetation here includes five of the eleven existing vegetation types in Java. There are 518 identified species of plants and 217 species of animals (18 species of mammals are protected by the law). Intensive utilization zone is designated as a center of the development of tourism facilities and infrastructure. For nature lovers they can take “Jungle Trek Trans Bandealit Banyuwangi” along the preserved forest area from Banyuwangi to Jember or vice versa. In this national park you can find Bandealit beach, a pure white sand beach with a beautiful panorama. The beach is equipped with lodging facilities; here tourists can enjoy the sunset which is very stunning.

Watu Ulo and Papuma Beach

For natural attractions, Watu Ulo beach and Papuma beach are very popular and well known by community. In addition to its natural beauty, Papuma beach is rich in fauna such as monitor lizard, jungle fowl, various species of birds, deer, landang, and pangolin. Other beaches are numerous and ready to be visited.

Jelbuk Agrotourism

Located 15 km to the north of Jember is a tobacco-processing center. Here you can witness the process of seeding, planting, cutting, and drying with fumigation process until the processing of high quality tobacco into cigars. Perkebunan Nusantara X succeeds to control 25% of dekblad (cigar pads tobacco) production, and is able to compete with countries of Cuba, United States, Mexico, Ecuador, Brazil, Nicaragua, Honduras, Colombia, Cameroon, and Dominican Republic. Visitors can take a close look at cigar-making process from the beginning to the end ready to be marketed.
