Tomb of Abraham Asmoro Qondi

This is the tomb of Sunan Ampel’s father, the late Ibrahim Asmoro Qondi. He is also one of the spreaders of Islam in Java. His grave is visited by many pilgrims on a pilgrimage Wali Songo tour. Every Thursday night at this tomb istighosah (congregational forgiveness rite) take place. The tomb lies in Gesikharjo village, Palang subdistrict 5 km to the east of the downtown.

Tomb of Sunan Bonang

Also surnamed Makdum Raden Ibrahim is the eldest son of Sunan Ampel. During is youth, he and Raden Paku migrated to north Sumatra to learn deeperIslamic teachings. Sunan Bonang, one of the Wali Songo (the Nine Saints of Islam spreaders in Java), died in 1525 AD and was laid to rest at the back of the great Mosque Kutorejo in Tuban. The tomb is visited by pilgrims who take a ritual pilgrimage tour of Wali Songo. Here we can find souvenir shops and facilities for worship.

Tomb of Bung Karno

The attraction frequently visited by many tourist is the Tomb of Bung Karno on Jl. Soekarno Bendogerit, Sanan Wetan subdistrict about 4 km to the north of the downtown. Here is the burial place of Soekarno who proclaimed Indonesia’s independence and he is the first president who established the Republic of Indonesia. Local tour guide service are available at the grave. You can get various kinds of souvenirs in the souvenir shops around the grave. If you go south, you will find a museum and library of Bung Karno showcasting historical memorabilia during his independence struggling period. Many of the books by Bung Karno are housed in this museum. On Jl. Moch. Hatta, to the south of Bumg Karno’s tomb there is a Trade Information Centre that provides information on potential tourism and trade of Blitar city. This information service applies modern base technology: Touch screen and the Internet. Some guides are ready to serve the needs of tourist.

Ampel Mosque


Located at 53 Jl. Ampel Masjid, the mosque is an inheritance of Sunan Ampel, one of Nine Sains of Islam spreaders in Java in the 14-15 the centuries. Until now the building has still been preserved as its original form and has five gates (paneksan gate, madep/worship gate, ngamal/practice gate, poso/fasting gate, and manunggal/united gate). All depict the five pillars of Islam. Ampel Mosque is one of the main pilgrimage destinations of Wali Songo tour.
