Tomb of Bung Karno
The attraction frequently visited by many tourist is the Tomb of Bung Karno on Jl. Soekarno Bendogerit, Sanan Wetan subdistrict about 4 km to the north of the downtown. Here is the burial place of Soekarno who proclaimed Indonesia’s independence and he is the first president who established the Republic of Indonesia. Local tour guide service are available at the grave. You can get various kinds of souvenirs in the souvenir shops around the grave. If you go south, you will find a museum and library of Bung Karno showcasting historical memorabilia during his independence struggling period. Many of the books by Bung Karno are housed in this museum. On Jl. Moch. Hatta, to the south of Bumg Karno’s tomb there is a Trade Information Centre that provides information on potential tourism and trade of Blitar city.
