Meru Betiri National Park

The coverage area of the national park is to reach Banyuwangi region. A 20,415 hectares area belongs to Banyuwangi and a 37,585 hectares area belongs to Jember. Total area of Meru Betiri National Park is 58,000 hectares consisting of 57,155 hectares of land and 845 hectares of sea. Zoning policy of the park covers the core zone, forest zone, intensive utilization zone, rehabilitation zone, and buffer zone. The vegetation here includes five of the eleven existing vegetation types in Java. There are 518 identified species of plants and 217 species of animals (18 species of mammals are protected by the law). Intensive utilization zone is designated as a center of the development of tourism facilities and infrastructure. For nature lovers they can take “Jungle Trek Trans Bandealit Banyuwangi” along the preserved forest area from Banyuwangi to Jember or vice versa. In this national park you can find Bandealit beach, a pure white sand beach with a beautiful panorama. The beach is equipped with lodging facilities; here tourists can enjoy the sunset which is very stunning.
