Trinil Archaeological Museum In Kedunggalar subdistrict, 23 km to the west of Ngawi city showcases a great collection of fossils. One of them is of walking upright ape human (Phitecanthropus erctus) discovered by Dutch scientist Dr. Eugene Dubois in 1890 along the Solo River at Trinil, Ngawi. It is estimated the fossil is more than 300,000 years of age. Other fossils discovered include ancient ivory fossils, wild ox fossils as well as ancient human skull fossils.
