Summit of Mt. Semeru
Mt. Semeru the highest mount in Java (3.676 metres above sea level) lies in Lumajang. This region is one of the entrance gates to the top of Mount Semeru as an attraction of special interest tour. From Lumajang to Semeru you will go through natural topical rain forests. The last village that we can see is Ranupani village with an altitude of 2.200 meters asl. Here you can find two quite scenic lakes namely Lake Pani and Lake Regulo. Tourist Information Center managed by the National Park office is in Ranu Pani village. Mount climbers are required to register in the office here. Climbing Semeru summit is not only popularamong Indonesian nature lovers, but also foreign climbers especially French tourists as well. Domestic climbers have a fixed agenda, every 17 August they hold an Independence Day ceremony at the summit of Semeru. They have sense of pride as they can follow the 17 August ceremony on the top of Semeru. The other natural attractions in Lumajang include Lake Kumbala (a lake located above Ranu Pani village en route in the top of Semeru), Lake Pakis, Lake Bedali, and Lake Klakah. Hindhu Dharma Temple in Senduro subdistrict is the largest temple in Asia. On certain days of religious ceremonys are attended by the Hindu community of East Java also the Balinese Hindu community.
