Bentar Recreation Beach

Located in the village of Curahsawo, Gentling subdistrict 5 km to the east of the city, you can enjoy a mini zoo, a fishing pond, boat tours, a sea pier, a mangroves tour. Between the months of January and March you can see some sharks on the high sea of Bentar. Other attraction belong to the region includes Madakaripura waterfaal in Lumbang village (22 km to the southwest of the city), Ronggojalu Water Recreation in Tegalsiwalan subdistrict, Ketapang Gili island, Sumber Bendo Recreation Site, Lake Segaran, and Lake Agung.

Mount Bromo

As a tourist destination of Indonesia, East Java positions Mt. Bromo to become the most popular attraction so that the name of Bromo can parallel those of Borobudur and Bali. Mount Bromo with a height of 2,392 meters above sea level lies in the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park. A harmonious blend of the mountainous natural beauty and the unique community costoms makes Mt. Bromo a more prominent attraction than other East Java’s attractions. This National Park is in the administrative area of Probolinggo, Pasuruan, Lumajang, and Malang. The most popular access to Mt. Bromo is a Probolinggo-Sukapura Cemorolawang route. At cemorolawang, facilities available include hotels, an ATM and gift shops. The Tourist Information Centre is managed by Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park. From Cemorolawang to Mount Bromo you can take a walk or ride on horseback along the sea of sand as far as 2,5 km.

Lahor Reservoir

Is located in Selorejo subdistrict adjacent to Karangkates reservoir. Lahor is a good place for recreation, equipped with a relaxing area, and motor boats for rent.

Penataran Temple Complex

Is the larges temples complex in East Java. The step by step temple development took about 257 years. The complex is vast and well maintained. The temple building is still relatively intact that is “The Dated Temple”. You can see the inscribed constructions year in Caka year 1291or 1369 AD above the entrance. Every year on 2 August, the stage a classical ballet performance “Pesona Bumi Penataran” (the Enchanting Penataran Land) at the Penataran Recreation Park.

Embul Tuk Cave

In the village of Tumpakkepuh, Bakung subdistrict is situated 10 km from Tri Sula Monument in Bakung. This nature formation of the cave is magnificent. The stalactites and stalagmites decorate a 1,5 km tunnel along the caves. The other caves to visit include the Caves of Ngetup, Jambangan, Jedog ang Celeng.

Serang Beach

Located on Serang village 45 km from Blitar city, becomes an important venue to see the new month (Rukyatul Hilal) to determine the beginning of the fasting month, the festival of Idhul Adha each year. The spread white and clean sand beach is comfortable and relaxing. Blitar is rich in attractive coastal resorts that could be developed into potential tourist destinations. As a gratitude to God, they hold offering ceremonies at both beaches every year.

Tambakrejo Beach

Lies in the village of Tambakrejo, Wonotirto subdistrict 45 km from Blitar city. Facilities available include a gazebo, a fish market, and entertainment stage, a children’s playground, and a mosque.

Church Phuhsarang

The old church Phuhsarang in Semen subdistrict is frequently visited by many pilgrims. The church was built by Ir. Hendricus Maclaine Pont, a Dutch architect in 1936. The uniqueness of the building is that the Dutch architect adopted local culture by blending European architecture. For the construction of the church building he used span steel wire as a roof, and the steel wire is linked one by one on the span wire.

Simpang Lima Monument

The shape of SLG building looks like that of Arch D’Triomphe in France. To reach the monument there are 3 underground access tunnels. The SLG area in its further development will have trade and tourism facilities.

Dolo Waterfall

Located in Besuki subvillage, Jugo village, Mojo subdistrict, Dolo waterfall lies 30 km from the Gumul Simpang Lima Monument. The waterfall is 100 m high, and has enough water throughout the season. With three flow steps of waterfall, Dolo is surrounded by an unspoiled pine recreation forest. To get to the waterfall, you take 1.000 steps of a stairway with panoramic view. In this area, a campground and a swimming pool are available.

Mount Kelud

Mount Kelud (1.731 m asl) is located in Sugih Waras village, Ngancar subdistrict about 40 km to the east of the Gumuk Simpang Lima monument. The average temperature is about 20° C. A great natural phenomenon happened with the emergence of a new lava dome from the creater. The new dome is about 250 m high, with a 420 m diameter. It is a centre of attractions of Mt. Kelud. There is also a 110 m long tunnel to the dome. The existing facility is a viewing post with 490 steps. From the top of the viewing post, at kali Badak you can find a hot water (about 60° C) sulfur river flowing from the new dome of Mt. Kelud. You can do rock climbing to Mount Sumbing. There are 11 challenging climbing routes with a very unique and interesting stone structure. The mysterious road gives a unique experience as the road is able to mobilize a car from a low point position to a higher point position.

Selomagleng Cave

Is located at pojok in Mojokerto subdistrict, 5 km to the west of Kediri. It is a hilly place in the middle of Kediri city. This cave was a place where the princess Kilisuci, daughter of King Airlangga meditated. This area is equipped with a swimming pool and a children’s games arena. Lying in Pojok village, Mojoroto subdistrict, Airlangga Museum houses archaeological objects of the kingdom of Kediri. The museum is about 5 km to the west of the city.

Sengkaling Recreation Park

10 km west of Malang city is enjoyed very much by children with a variety of different games facilities, a pool, pond boats and hot showers.

Karang Kates Recreation Park

A reservoir in Sumberpucung subdistrict 30 km to the southwest of Malang functions as a dam for electricity plant. In addition, it is a recreation area maily for water sports such as rowing or water skiing. This area also features a golf course, meeting rooms, a children’s playground, a camping ground and accommodations.

Poncokusumo Tourism Village

Is at an altitude of 800 above sea level lying in Poncokusumo subdistrict 32 km east of Malang city. The village will be developed as a rest area for the climbers to Mt. Bromo and Mt. Semeru. Here the cultural and social life is unique and interesting. Apples are the dominant plants in Poncokusumo.

Jeru Bird Park

Located in Jeru village, Pakis subdistrict, 15 km east of Malang, is equipped with a campground, a playground, a birds park and rare plants.

Kasembon Rafting

White-water rafting in Kasembon subdistrict is a mix of recreation and sport full of challenges. Visitors seem to enjoy this fairly good rafting, especially the outbound activities. Lodging facilities are available. Malang features various swimming pools. The one in Kepanjen subdistrict, 18 km to the south is Metro equipped with a children’s playground. The other pools include Dewi Sri, Sunber Waras, and Ken Dedes. Plantation tour can be enjoyed at Wonosari tea plantation, Lawang subdistrict about 20 km to the north of the city of Malang. Lying at an altitude of 670 metres above sea level, the plantation offers cool mountain air, you can enjoy the activities of mountain biking, jogging, etc. Facilities vailable include villas/hotels, meeting rooms, children playground, a swimming pool and campground. The other plantations include apple plantation in Poncokusumo (40 km east of Malang), salak (snake fruit) plantation in Swaru (25 km south of Malang).

Selorejo Reservoir

In Ngantang subdistrict, 43 km west of Malang City features facilities for golf, tennis, camping, lodging, restaurants, fishing, boating, and water skiing.

Wendit Pool

(Wendit Waterpark) lies in Pakis subdistrict, 10 km to the east of Malang. The facilities available include a waterboom, a natural swimming pool, floating restaurant and souvenir shops.

Badut temple

Unearthed in 1923, is a Shiva temple. This temple is believed to be the evidence of the first empire in East Java.

Sumberawan Stupa

6 km to the northwest of Singosari temple is situated on the slopes of Mt. Arjuna. The stupa walls are decorated with reliefs of the temples in East Java dating from the XIV century period.

Kidal temple

Located in Tumpang subdistrict, 28 km to the east of Malang is a place where the burial ashes of King Anusapati (the 2nd King of Singosari) are kept. The temple is decorated with the background story of Mahabharata.

Jago temple

Lying in the subdistrict of Tumpang, 22 km to the east of Malang, is a temple where the burial ashes of King wisnuwardhana (the 4th King of Singosari) are kept.

Singosari Temple

Many temples to visit are scattered across Malang. Singosari temple is located in Candirejo village, Singosari subdistrict, about 11 km to the north of Malang city. It was built by Kartanegara the last King of Singosari, coincided with Sradha ceremony taking place in the year 1300 AD. Not far from temple you can find two 3.7-meter-tall gigantic statues of Dwarapala.

Coban Rondo waterfall

The other natural attractions to visit is Coban Rondo waterfall at Pujon, 26 km to the west of Malang. The fall is about 60 metres high. The surroundings view is fascinating, and it is cool with a height of 80 metres above sea level. Coban Rondo is equipped with facilities for camping. Other waterfalls namely Glotak and Coban Pelangi are at Poncokusuno in the area of the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park. The National park lies right in four regencies, namely Malang, Lumajang, Pasuruan, and Probolinggo.

Ngliyep Beach

62 km, south of Malang city is located in Kedungsalam village, Donomulyo subdistrict. Balekambang Beach

Is located in Srigonco village, Bantur subdistrict about 57 km to the south of Malang. At this beach, an annual Jalanidhipuja sea ceremony is held by the Hindus from Malang and its surrounding areas. It is even attended by many Hindus from Bali Island.

Pelang Beach

Is another beach located in Panggul subdistrict. The beach is natural, overlooking directly the Indian Ocean. Therefore, it has relatively big waves. The beach is 56 km to the southwest of Trenggalek. Not far from Pelang beach, you can find a waterfall; some people believe that having a bath under this waterfall will make people remain young. Unspoiled beaches which have potential to be developed into attractive coastal resorts are beaches of Damas, Ngampiran, Blado, and Konang.

Prigi Beach

Lowo cave (Sripit Cave)

The south coast of Trenggalek is a mountainous and karstic region. The geographic characteristics of this kind potentially create stunning natural formations “caves”. On the same route to Prigi beach you will see Lowo Cave or Sripit Cave, located right in Watulimo subdistrict about 30 km from Trenggalek. The cave is categorized as a flat cave which has 9 rooms with unsploiled charming and colourful stalactites and stalagmites. According to an expert researcher from France Mr. Gilbert Manthovani and Chairman of HIKESPI (Indonesia Speleology Activities Association). Sripit cave is the largest cave in Southeast Asia. An underground phenomenon of the beauty of natural formations ten or even hundred thousands years ago that we must preserve. For the formation of a one millimeter stalactite and stalagmite takes 10 years, a very long period of time. This cave is equipped with lighting facilities and a local guide. Trowulan Man-Made Tourist Attractions

In Wates village, Trowulan subdistrict you can see a PPST Center (Central Wholesale of shoes) about 15 km from Mojokerto, and cast brass handicrafts in Bejijong village. Religious site of the tomb of Syech Jumadil Kubro and the Majapahit Great Vihara houses Indonesia’s largest Buddhist statue. Cast brass and bronze crafts are often found in Bejijong tourism village. Trowulan of Cultural Tourist Attractions

Trowulan and its surroundings in the era of the Majapahit kingdom was the center of the empire. Nowadays, there are many historical sites with a variety of ancients relics of temples, gates and pools. In some sites, excavations of the remains are still carried out. The temple which have been restored include Bajang Ratu gate, Wringin Lawang gate, Tikus temple, Brahu temple,Jolotundo pool, and many other relics.

Aer Mata Ebhu (cultural tourist attractions)

Tomb complex of Aer Mata Ebhu is a royal graveyard of the kings from Western Madura well worth a visit. Lying in the village of Buduran, Arosbaya subdistrict 25 km to the north of Bangkalan, the tomb offers spectacular gravestone carvings where they have become a preserved cultural heritage. Travelling 1,5 km towards the west from Bangkalan, you will find the tomb of a great Islam scholar named Syaichona Cholil. He was born in Bangkalan in the post era of Walisongo. The tomb is in the village of Mertajesah Bangkalan subdistrict. Other attraction in the Bangkalan Museum which exhibits a collection of antiquities. You can visit a lighthouse built in 1879 during the Dutch colonial period in sembilangan village, Socah subdistrict 15 km to the west of Bangkalan. The other attractions include the Bull Race and Batik centre. Bull Race is a cultural spectacle very much enjoyed by the Madurese community. The batik centre is located in Tanjung Bumi, 46 km to the north of Bangkalan. Madurese batik is very popular with specific decorative motifs.

Geger Hill

The hill is 150 m above sea level, from there you can enjoy a panoramic view of beautiful natural surroundings. It is located in Geger village, Geger subdistrict, 40 km to the north of Bangkalan city.

Siring Kemuning Beach

Tomb of Sendang Dhuwur

Located in Gondang village, Sugio subdistrict, Sendang Dhuwur’s tomb is still on the same route as that of Sunan Drajad. The graveyard is in the highlands, the fence and the entrance (winged gate) is decorated with beautiful ornaments made of andesite stones with a unique decoration. This depicts a blend of decorative style of declining Hindu Majapahit culture and the influx of Islamic culture. The largest fish auction place in Java can be found in the village of Brondong, just west of the WBL.

Tomb of Sunan Drajat

Sunan Drajat is one of the Nine Saints Islam spreaders in Java. His teachings are used as a role model of Muslims. His tomb is located in Drajat village, Paciran subdistrict, 38 to the north of Lamongan on the northem coast of Java. In the tomb complex there is a pavilion frequently used for gatherings.

Wisata Bahari Lamongan (WBL)

The WBL is a blend of natural and man-made attractions located on the north coast (northem) island of Java, adjacent to the Mazoola. This coastal attractions is visited by many tourist, especially on holidays. The WBL is equipped with about 55 kind fun activities.

Maharani Zoo & Cave (Maazoola)

Mazoola is located in Paciran village, Paciran subdistrict, 44 km to the north of Lamongan right accros Tanjung Kodok. The appealing items are the cave, a gamestone gallery, a mini zoo with a collection of animals from many countries. Pari Temple


Some temples dating from the 14-15 the centuries include Pari temple in Candi Pari village, Porong subdistrict about 8 km to the south of Sidoarjo city. This stupa shaped temple was build during the reign of King Hayam Wuruk. Negoro temple in Candi Negoro village, Krian subdistrict about 16 km to the west of the small town. It is thought to be constructed around the year 1535. Apart from that, there is a Kemlagian inscription in Tropodo village, Krian subdistrict about 19 km to the west.

Tomb of Sunan Giri


The lies in the village of Giri, on a hill south of the city of Gresik. Sunan Giri is one of the Wali Songo (the nine saints of Islam spreaders in Java). Many pilgrims visit the tomb during the pilgrimage season. The doors and cupola walls of are beautifully decorated with wood carvings.
Another burial site of Islam in Leran Graveyard is Siti Fatima Bint Maimun. According to an archeologist, it is the oldest tomb in Southeast Asia. Meanwhile, the tomb of Nyai Ageng Pinatih (foster mother of Sunan Giri) is located in the village of Kebomas. Giri Petilasan Kedaton is in the village of Sidomukti, Kebomas Subdistrict.

Tomb of Maulana Malik Ibrahim


This tomb is located in the city of Gresik. This site is visited by many pilgrims on Wali Songo pilgrimage tour. Maulana Malik Ibrahim was a pioneers is spreading Islam faith in Java. The marble tombstone intricately carved with Arabic calligraphy, was shipped from Gujarat.

Dalegan Lovely Recreation Beach ( locally known as WISID)


This is a white sand beach having a lot of marine lives. The attraction that can be enjoyed among others: the sunset, boating, swimming, and fishing.
